Wanda E. Gozdz, B.S., A.S., Allied ASID, CAPS, founder and president of Golden Age Living, LLC, Deerfield Beach, Florida, is a consultant, residential interior designer, author, an accomplished educator and speaker as well as an award-winning advocate for seniors. Her goal is twofold: to inform consumers as they age on how to adapt their homes to their changing lifestyles and to educate professionals who serve the senior market on how to help clients and their families to “age in place.” In 2007 Ms. Gozdz founded Golden Age Living, a consulting and residential interior design company. Its mission is to empower the aging to live independent quality lives in their homes and work environments, emphasizing sustainable design.
Ms. Gozdz began her career as a teacher. She then worked as a purchasing agent for seven years where she learned business management. That work provided the foundation for W. Gozdz Enterprises, Inc., a company offering management consulting services to libraries and service professionals for some 35 years. Gozdz joined the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) while continuing to market to Big Six accounting firms, law firms and law libraries. She served on NAWBO’s National Public Policy Council, which helped pass legislation to support women business owners. In 1995 she was awarded the Public Policy Advocate of the Year award from NAWBO and was also named Small Business Woman of the Year.
Because of her mother’s determination to stay in her own home “forever,” Gozdz was inspired to pursue a degree in interior design and became a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS). Today, she is a Master Instructor for the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and a subject matter expert for Aging in Place. In 2014 she was named by the NAHB CAPS Educator of the Year. She teaches courses for builders, remodelers, occupational therapists, interior designers and other professionals who serve the “Aging in Place” market nationally and internationally.
Wanda Gozdz received the “Editor’s Choice Award” from Celebrity Press for contributing a chapter entitled “The Sparks That Ignited My Life” in the book Ignite Your Life, featuring Co-Authors Brian Tracy and Wanda Gozdz. She received the 2016 “Best-Sellers Quill Award” for the book from the National Academy of Best Selling Authors. She authored “Sensible Smart Tips for Living in Your ForeverHome™”. The Green Building & Remodelers Council of Florida’s Treasure Coast Builders Association (TCBA) awarded Karen Kane, Karen Kane Interiors, and Gozdz the “2013 Laurel Award for Residential Construction less than 10,000 feet“ for their design work for the Lobby Project at Hibiscus by the Sea on Hutchinson Island. Gozdz also received the Golden Mouse Award for Digital Devices from Women in Ecommerce for creating an encrypted flash drive for storage of confidential information.
Ms. Gozdz has served on the Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design and on the Advisory Committee of Indian River Sate College, Interior Design & Technology Department. She is a member of the American Society of Interior Design (ASID), International Furnishings & Design Association (IFDA), National Kitchen and Bath (NKBA), Association of Aging in America (AIA), and the Builders Association of South Florida (BASF). She is also an avid runner, finishing first in her age group in the 2016 Space Coast Marathon in Cocoa Beach and in the 2015 Fort Lauderdale Marathon.
